Manual FiO₂ titration in preterm neonates leaves infants outside their prescribed SpO₂ range a substantial portion of the monitored time, despite the documented consequences of both hyperoxia and hypoxia. The OAM attaches to the existing Precision Flow platform and runs a PID controller that compares live SpO₂ to a clinician-defined target and adjusts FiO₂ on a short response interval, learning from intra-session SpO₂ patterns to anticipate predictable desaturations. Published neonatal studies report substantially increased time within target SpO₂ range under closed-loop FiO₂ control versus manual titration.
Used in preterm neonates on Precision Flow Hi-VNI Technology where continuous SpO₂ targeting within a defined range is clinically important. Enables automated FiO₂ titration to a clinician-set target without removing flow or ventilation decisions from the clinician.
