ECMO & Extracorporeal Therapies

Efferon LPS

Single-use hemoperfusion cartridge with an LPS-selective ligand on macroporous hypercrosslinked polystyrene sorbent beads (700-900 m²/g) – simultaneous extracorporeal adsorption of bacterial endotoxin and excess host-derived cytokines.

Gram-negative septic shock is driven by circulating endotoxin and excess cytokines that antibiotics and supportive care do not directly remove. Efferon LPS is a single-use hemoperfusion cartridge (LPS-selective ligand on 700-900 m²/g hypercrosslinked polystyrene sorbent) that simultaneously adsorbs endotoxin and cytokines in a single pass – with evidence of reduced inflammatory biomarkers and MODS duration, and compatibility with CRRT, ECMO, and CPB circuits.

  • Simultaneous LPS and cytokine clearance – Selective endotoxin ligand plus broad cytokine adsorption in one pass.
  • Reduction of key inflammatory biomarkers – Documented decreases in procalcitonin, CRP, IL-6, leukocyte and neutrophil counts.
  • Reduction in organ-dysfunction duration – Clinical data show shortened MODS duration.
  • Circuit compatibility – Integrates with CRRT, ECMO, and CPB.
  • Haemodynamic stabilisation – Associated with reduced vasopressor requirements.
  • el tracking across time and shifts.
  • Single-use, gamma-sterilised, ready-to-use cartridge – no assembly beyond standard hemoperfusion setup.
  • Flexible circuit integration – direct hemoperfusion or combined with CRRT/ECMO/CPB.
  • Defined 6-12 hour treatment window with clear initiation and cessation criteria.
  • Low-flow compatible.
  • CE-marked under EU MDR with documented RCT-level evidence.

Used in gram-negative septic shock with high endotoxin burden and ongoing hemodynamic or organ dysfunction despite standard therapy. Enables simultaneous extracorporeal removal of endotoxin and excess cytokines, integrable with CRRT, ECMO, or CPB circuits.
